The process entails imprinting asphalt using grid style cable wire templates to replicate hand-laid brick, slate or stone. The templates are placed on the surface of hot asphalt. The impressions are achieved by passing compaction equipment such as vibratory plates over the templates. Various patterns can be combined to create beautiful designs that add drama and impact to monotonous stretches of asphalt.
